A Message - June 2013

By - Alimah Nadia Sadiq Sunday, June 2, 2013

Alhumdulillah, I truly feel grateful to the Lord of the heavens and the earth who has enabled Nur ul Ilm Academy to finish its academic year with grace and honour. The last month was a satisfying yet emotional time for me when I was watching the students finishing their course books and struggling for their exams. Satisfying because they were able to dive through these deep oceans of knowledge with zeal and compassion, understanding the depths and surmounting the obstacles. Emotional because I have to depart from them, until we meet again for the next academic year inshaAllah. This time of separation seems a life time to me, as I feel incomplete without them and they feel lost without Nur ul Ilm.

We both complete one another.

I have dreamt many dreams, I have made many prayers, I have made many wishes. A part of my dreams, my prayers and my wishes has always been the presence of all these beautiful gems of Nur ul Ilm around me, adorning me with their shine and grace. Now when I think of the break, it makes me emotional and sad, but I have a hope, a desire and a contentment.

Miles and miles may keep us apart,

But no distance can divide our hearts.

Our bodies might be separated by a vast ocean,

But we are connected by a bridge of love and devotion.

This love that I share with the students is a bond which is glued by the Love of Allah ta'ala and surely that is the strongest bond which can never be broken by distance. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we will all have one thing in common, and that will be our relation with our Lord, which will make us think of one another, make us cherish and admire one another, and will make us pray for one another and bring us stronger and closer to each other.

Allah brings souls together,

So we know more of Him.

Through the souls of my students surely,

I understand Allah a little more.

Allah brings souls together

So we may love more for Him,

Through the souls of my students surely,

I love Allah a little more.

I wish and pray for my students, that may Allah ta'ala be with them in this time of distance. May He increase our love for His sake alone and bring us together once more to serve Him, worship Him, know Him and love Him. At the time of departing I leave these words of advice to them. They might not see me or be with me but their names are on my heart and their beautiful faces are in my eyes.

As we walk on the path of life, we go different ways,

The love and the compassion in the heart always stays.

We stand , we slip, we fall, we run,

We might go places but back we return.

Distances, separations, desires and pains

Do not stop us from rewards and gains.

We struggle, we walk, we climb, we try,

We smile, we frown, we laugh, we cry.

We still remain steadfast and so sure,

We wash our hearts and make them pure.

The love of Allah makes us wonder,

The beauty of Him teaches us to dive.

We face the challenges of separation,

The bodies may separate but souls stay alive.

I pray for the complete success for all my students. The success which enables them to be stronger than before in their faith, more compassionate in their love for Allah ta'ala and more humble in their humility I wish for them a relaxing time with their families and friends. A time which brings them closer to their families in harmony, love and companionship. A time which brings them closer to Allah ta'ala in reflection, in His service and His love.

As Allah ta'ala says,

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وُدًّا

‘The All Merciful makes love and compassion among those who have faith and do righteous deeds'
(19:96)

,May Allah ta'ala accept us all
