Know the reality; Don't lose hope

By - Shaykh Tauqeer Chaudhary (db) Monday, April 13, 2015

All praise is for Allah ta'ala, Lord of the heavens and the earth. The academy’s activities are in their full bloom. The academic year is getting close to its end. The upcoming ceremony of teaching the last hadith of Bukhari Shareef (KhatamBukhari) by our beloved Shaykh, Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad, is due in less than a month. We have just come from a beautiful umrah trip as a group. Together, seeing the beautiful sights of Madinah Munawarrah and the chanting of ‘Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk’ on our journey towards the house of Allah ta'ala􏰀, our hearts bonded even more.

But in the midst of all these activities, we must not forget the real purpose of our lives, which is to prepare for the Hereafter by passing the test of this life and keeping our connection with Allah 􏰀. Words are learnt from books, but the reality has to come in our lives. Allah 􏰀ta'ala creates situations in our lives to test if the words have penetrated our hearts. If we act according to our learning, then we pass the tests. Otherwise, we have failed the test and the learning has gone to waste.

We need to understand that every single situation that we come across in our lives is from Allah ta'ala􏰀. There is not a leaf that falls from a tree, but it happens with the will of Allah 􏰀ta'ala.

‘With Him are the keys of the Unseen. No one knows them but He. He knows what is in the land and the sea. No leaf ever falls but that He knows about it, and there is no grain in the dark layers of the earth, or anything fresh or dry that is not recorded in a manifest book.’ (6:59)

All situations are created to test the level of our faith. Our job is to look at how does Allah ta'ala􏰀 wants us to react in this particular situation, and this is what we learn in our books of knowledge, and then act accordingly. This is all that life is about, and nothing else. We have to understand it very well, only then will our actions become right, and we will be able to control our reactions to successes, and the emotions in our calamities.

Once we react to a certain situation according to the way that Allah 􏰀ta'ala wants us to, then we should have a hope to get the reward from Allah ta'ala􏰀. But this reward can either only be in the Hereafter, or both in the Hereafter and this life. We should not lose hope if it is only in the Hereafter. Our job is to continue reacting to the situations according to the will of Allah 􏰀ta'ala. Our goal is the Hereafter. We may feel that justice is not done with us, but that is why there is a Day of Judgment. All wrongs will be corrected on that day. Good deeds will be rewarded, and the final abode will be Paradise.

So, I recommend everybody to continue learning for the sake of passing the test of situations created by Allah ta'ala􏰀. Allah 􏰀ta'ala loves the students of knowledge. We must not lose focus; and we must not lose hope. May Allah 􏰀ta'ala allow us to see the realities of life, and to act in the way that He is pleased with us.
